True stories by Murl Harpham

Our  dumbest criminal occurred when a burglar, well  known to all officers and in fact claimed to be related to a famous Boston Braves baseball pitcher, broke into a car.  He found a camera.  It was apparently a make  he had never seen---a Polaroid.

He inspected it and while doing so he had the lens pointed at his face and tripped the trigger.  Out came a blank piece of paper and he threw it in the car and left taking the camera.

By the time police arrived the film had developed and an immediate identification was made.  A short time later he was arrested at his home and the camera recovered.
